Hello Bear Family!

I love being a Birmingham Bear!  I have been a Bear since 2015 and love serving our families and community.  I am originally from Beaumont, TX and attended Lamar University where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 1997. As a classroom teacher, I taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades in Hardin-Jefferson ISD, Mesquite ISD, and Wylie ISD. I earned my Masters Degree in School Counseling from Amberton University and began my career as a school counselor in Plano ISD in 2004.

My husband and I have been married since 2001 and have raised our family in the Wylie ISD school system.  We have a daughter who attends Oklahoma State and a son who is in 7th grade in the district. We love traveling, watching sports, being on the lake, and sharing laughs.

As your school counselor, I am here for students, families, and teachers. I see students monthly to help support the relational skill lessons that teachers review weekly.  We discuss topics such as emotional regulation, brain science and how it controls our emotions, empathy, friendship, safety, and our Wylie Way Core Values.  The WW Core Values covers respect and responsibility, caring and giving, grit and preparation, as well as gratitude and celebration.

For students who need extra support, I can see them in small groups and individually as needed.  I am also here to  provide families with connections to community resources such as counseling services, support groups, clothing/food needs, etc.  I also serve as the campus’s 504 coordinator.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Bear love,

Mrs. Ray
